In a strange turn of events, many of my regular reads on the Internet have either gone on vacation or taken a suspicious "leave of absence". While this development has increased my productivity at work, it has also left me grasping for intellectual discourse. Here's a short rundown of who's gone:
Instapundit: Says he's scuba diving somewhere. Will supposedly return and resume blogging.
Matt Welch: Is "off the air", makes reference to juggling, F. Scott Fitzgerald and baseball all in one sentence.
Hunter Thompson: Now, I expect this kind of thing out of the Good Doctor. He's supposedly gone to Beirut for a while. He left us with a few strange statements about the Kentucky Derby and other mostly incorrect predictions about sporting events.
Ken Layne: With no warning at all, one of the finest pulls anchor and sails for Belize. He promises to return with "something different", and it does sound like the man is a little burnt-out. As long as he delivers that next book, I will forgive.
And although he's still writing, Tony Pierce is threatening to make one final stop on the Bus Blog. He's got some deal about 100 people linking him, but I think he's going to shut it down anyhow.
These are all terribly talented and creative individuals. Blogs have been a great introduction to many people, and now I'm interested in seeing what else they can do. Bring it on.|W|P|78516456|W|P||W|P|jacksoncooper@gmail.com
